"NO" RESEARCH TANK
It recently dawned on me that there is an easier way to explain startup. ALL babies from common eggs can cross with all other babies. All of these babies will survive. BUT you have to check the health of the new babies. If you find one that has a good price AND it's health isn't too low, then rebreed another one. (check it's statistics, and repeat what you did to breed the first one, or breed 2 if you cross both ways). Then specialize in breeding those fish --- or several good ones, if you have them. There are 121 possible fish in this mix, I believe! Some have VERY good prices, and you can usually add a few dollars to their original price. I just keep adding a few dollars until they stop selling, then back them down a bit. But DO NOT cross any of the new babies with different type fish, unless you are sure it will work. These are the common egg Fish
and these fish have six types of fins
Cross only these types in a start up tank! Crosses of any of the above fish and fins will survive, BUT not all with have good health! Watch their health, and DO NOT Breed the offspring with any other type fish. Sell the fish if their health approaches half on the scale. Folks will still buy them and nurse them back to health. :) If you keep track of what you get when you breed fish, you can build a database of information on what crosses make what new fish and fin My breeding charts explain all of this in more detail if you need more help. And there is also more information on my fish eggs page. |
A question that was on the forum....... How long does it take for a pregnant fish to deliver? Does it vary by species? Normal speed .. 4 'fishy years' till the babies
are born, I believe. And a fishy year is 10 minutes ... |
These are just random notes as I'm working on a tank I sometimes start tanks with the starter eggs, and TWO batches of extra eggs. The more babies the better, to find good breeders, especially if I plan on breeding all 441 fish in the game. My opinion of Stickfish has changed the more I play the game. While I still mostly breed with my breeding charts, there are a few good ways to use the Stickfish, too! Crossing them with a Spotanus will give a Beta, which IS one of my breeders ... and with a Fruitfish will produce a Goldbulb, which will have a decent price, some higher than others. Fruitfish average over $10, so are good starter breeders, but Goldbulbs are the best Beta's that have crossed fins are good starter breeders No much happening in this tank now. Just breeding orange Fruitfish to make some money to get more eggs and that second tank. I won't start experimenting until I have the third tank ... and some money to back me up.

Feb 8 The "Fish Eggs" page contains info on what fish are in all the types of eggs. The surprising thing was that they would all live in a new level one fish tank. ....... even without the aerator or temp controller. Some are born with low health, and won't live a real long time without constant vitamins, but they do live long enough to breed a couple of times. BUT you wouldn't want to breed alot of them in a level one tank because the babies would be too hybrid and would not survive. :( Definitely the only safe eggs for trying to cross when you don't know what you are doing, are the common eggs ... and even those can end up with dead babies if they are too hybrid. I find my safest fish to be a Fruitfish. (Shark/Beta cross) and even then, stay way from fins that are too hybrid. If you stick to crossing Twinfins/Greefins/Silkies, you will usually come up with babies that you can breed. But the Orange Fruitfish is the safest bet if you don't want to have to keep an eye on the health of each fish. They sell for over $20, so profits add up quickly. Raise fish till you can get the Second Tank! Leave the Research till later!!!!!! Once you have the third tank profits increase immensely! :) THAT is my biggest trick to winning the game! Breed safe fish ... buy the second tank ... buy more eggs to get the 'starter fish', and when you have excess money THEN go for the environments. Despite what I read on the forum, I find that I can do quite well in a level one tank with no research. There are lots of fish that can be breed. Get the second tank and experiment. Make one baby of different crosses until you find one or two you want to specialize in. I've probably said all that before elsewhere...but now it's where it belongs in the level one tank page! :) |
